Tlāloc Collective is a multidisciplinary dance/media company and artistic community based in New York City.
We, just like everyone else, are having a hard time trying to survive in the climate that is currently the country we reside in. For many of us this is nothing new.
Some of us are finally having uncomfortable and jarring conversations about race, lending our bodies to the streets to protest and sing the names of those murdered.
Some of us are seeking refuge in community, opening our wallets, using our platforms to uplift and spread the joy of being Black.
No matter your form of direct action, we are all tired. We all need to help and reach across.
This zine is our hand extended.
Remember, believe and see, that only we protect us.
Our First Edition, published on July 9th 2020, is meant to be accessible to everyone and anyone. Our goal is to share poetry while providing significant information regarding our community.
The First Edition features the voting results for the NYC Fiscal Year regarding budget cuts to the NYPD, resources for the rental housing crisis in NYC, and of course, poetry.
A printable PDF is available on our website for you to fold your own, leave around your neighborhood, give to friends and family - spread the love of poetry and community resources near you. Please take a picture and tag @tlaloccollective on Instagram if you fold your own!
Our Second Edition will be available September 2020.
